Hugo Moreno
Hugo spent a decade at the Forbes copy desk, then another decade at SmartMoney: The Wall Street Journal Magazine, where he rose to Deputy Managing Editor. Among other duties, he hired and supervised copy editors and fact-checkers, ran the copy desk, coordinated story traffic and deadlines with the production department and revised the magazine's house style. He also edited several columns, including Walter Mossberg's technology column, Roger Lowenstein's column on finance and a car column authored by such veteran automotive writers as Paul Ingrassia and Joseph B. White.
Hugo wrote a feature story about bringing up his daughter during his first wife's illness and death that was nominated for a National Magazine Award and selected as one of the ten best stories in SmartMoney's first ten years. He has also worked in the commercial real estate industry as Managing Editor of Communications at Forest City Ratner Cos., and acquired experience in web design, website content creation, speechwriting and branding.
Born in Atlanta, Hugo has lived in New York for thirty years. He attended Brown University and NYU's graduate school of journalism, and is working on his second novel.
He serves on the board of the Ellen Hermanson Foundation, a nonprofit focused on the needs of breast cancer patients and survivors.
